About me

Hi! I’m Jessy Herrera, and if you’ve ever tried to cook dinner with one hand while holding a toddler with the other or stared into your fridge wondering how to stretch three ingredients into a full meal then you’re definitely my kind of person.

I was born in Spain, in a lively town near Valencia, where food was always a celebration. My abuela made everything from scratch, and her kitchen was filled with the scent of garlic, simmering tomatoes, and stories. When I moved to the U.S. in my twenties, I brought those flavors with me but I also had to learn how to make them work in a new world of tight schedules and tighter budgets.

Now in my late thirties and raising two energetic kids in Ohio, I’ve made it my mission to cook meals that are fast, affordable, and still full of soul. I believe cooking doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive to be nourishing. Some of my favorite recipes were born from those “what can I do with this can of beans and half a zucchini?” kind of nights.

I’m not afraid to admit when things go sideways like the time I mistook cinnamon for cumin and ended up with a very “interesting” taco night. But that’s the beauty of everyday cooking: it’s messy, real, and full of little victories.

If you’re juggling kids, work, and dinner all at once, I hope my food can bring a little relief and a lot of flavor to your table.
